A one-day mini-fest, Nordic Death Mass, at Ääniwalli in January!

Nordic Death Mass takes over Ääniwalli on Saturday, January 16. The one-day mini-fest features the Nordic region’s top names in the new wave of death metal, as domestic acts Malformed, Disguised Malignance, and Azatoth take the stage alongside Sweden’s Cryptorium, Xorsist, and Impurity. Expect the most brutal night of the winter. You don’t want to miss this!

Cryptorium: Cryptorium is a young death metal band from Sweden, formed in 2022. With roots deeply embedded in the early ’90s death metal scene, they deliver a raw and filthy sound with gut-ripping riffs — but with their own unique touch. Since their formation in 2022, the band has released a demo, a full-length album titled “Descent Into Lunacy”, and an EP, and they have no plans to slow down, with their new album out soon on Transcending Obscurity!

Disguised Malignance: Founded in 2021, Disguised Malignance emerged at the dawn of death metal’s resurgence in the Finnish youth. After gaining a cult following around Finnish soil with their demo and promo EP’s, The band unleashed their acclaimed debut album on the world in late 2023. Since then their anthemic death metal performances have struck audiences around Europe, further refining the band as a growing musical entity and a live act to watch out for. As for 2026, the band is gearing up to get back on stages and gain momentum for their upcoming sophomore studio album, expected for early 2027.

Azatoth: Azatoth was spawned upon Vantaa’s soil in Finland during the dawn of 2020 to create and perform pure blasphemic grinding death metal in order to give a voice for the abominations of the underworld.

Malformed: Malformed is a vile Finnish Death Metal entity, spewing their sickness upon the unfortunate listeners. The band has toured relentlessly since their formation in 2022, and their second full-length album is set to arrive just in time for the show in Ääniwalli. Come witness the carnage yourself…

Impurity: Straight from the Swedish death metal forge, Impurity are hitting Helsinki for the first time ever and bringing their uncompromising old-school sound with them. Deeply rooted in the tradition of the Swedish scene, this sounds like the early, dirty days of the genre.

Xorsist: Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, the breeding ground of bands such as Entombed, Dismember and Unleashed, Xorsist carry the city’s Death Metal legacy with conviction. Rooted in the raw buzzsaw tradition of early ’90s Swedish Death Metal, yet sharpened with modern bite, the band have steadily risen through the underground with “Deadly Possession” (2022) and “At the Somber Steps of Serenity” (2023). Now, with their latest offering “Aberrations” recently released, the band have descended further into darkness and prepare to unleash its filth upon the stage once again.
